We are a loose association of scientists, scallopers, and fisheries managers. International Pectinid Workshop does not exist as a legal entity, or organization.

Comments & Forms

 This site does not allow visitors to leave comments on the site. However, we do use several forms to handle contact, workshop registration and abstract submissions.  We collect the data shown in the forms, as well as  the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to process the visitors requests and help spam detection.


Media

The only media the site accepts from visitors is for thee abstract submission form and only .doc and .docx files. If you upload these to the website, you should be aware that every Microsoft document has met-data embedded in it (which you can alter) including potentially personally identifiable information (name and physical address primarily). Visitors to the website do not have access to these files, as they are delivered directly to the administrators, with no long term storage on publicly accessible servers including this one.


Cookies

The core web server software used for this site uses several cookies, primarily for anonymized analytics (computer device type, screen size, browser user agent, coarse geolocation (e.g. Kingston, RI, USA).

If you visit our site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Who we share your data with

 We do not share any data with third parties, save the essential data required for payment processing via encrypted packet SSL. All other forms (Contact and Abstract Submission) are used only by our organizing team in order to facilitate the meeting and operations the website, the data from those forms are not transmitted or shared with any other websites or corporate entities.


How long we retain your data

As we collect no personal data except that submitted by web forms, we do not retain personal data from interacting with the website. Abstract submissions and the personal information attached to those forms is only retained offline. Payment processing data is encrypted and stored by the payment processor () and in non publicly accessible systems in our offices.


What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
