New Bedford is located in southern Massachussetts, just south of I-195 (exit 15S)

Getting to New Bedford from outside the New England region is easiest from Boston’s Logan International Airport or Providence’s T.F. Greene airport. Below are the public transport options from these airports to New Bedford.

From Boston’s Logan International Airport  (~2h, ~$15 via Public transport)

1.  Take the free Silver Line SL1 bus from any terminal to Boston South Station.
2. Take the new South Coast Rail line (Fall River/New Bedford Line) to the New Bedford station (~0.9miles or 1.4km from The Whaling Museum).
3. Use South Coast Rail Transit Authority micro-transit van ($1) or Taxi, Lyft, Uber or walk to final accommodations and/or Whaling Museum (~0.9miles or 1.4km to the Whaling Museum).

From Providence’s T.F. Greene Airport – (~45m to 4h, ~$16-$140)

Still New Bedford is a queer place. Had it not been for us whalemen, that tract of land would this day perhaps have been in as howling condition as the coast of Labrador. As it is, parts of her back country are enough to frighten one, they look so bony. The town itself is perhaps the dearest place to live in, in all New England.
